Multi-user access changes in quickbooks desktop
Now that you've set up everything outside of QuickBooks, all you need to do is turn on Multi-user Access on your server computer. Your server computer should be the only computer with this feature on.
Now that your files are hosted over the network from the server, let's install on your workstations. Download and install QuickBooks Desktop on your workstations. Select Custom and Network install for the install type. Select I will be using QuickBooks Desktop on this computer. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the install. When you want to access your multi-user network, sign in as a user with admin rights on your server computer and workstations.

Thank you for your help!! The only problem that occurred was that none of my attachments which are MANY seemed to have made the transfer. We scan all of our receipts to the transaction for tax purposes.

We're always around to help. Guess my question was unclear. We are moving QB to another computer. The instructions above list items that will not be moved when we move the company file. One of those items is our saved printer settings. Where is the file kept that we need to move to the new computer that holds our saved printer settings? Everything else has already been moved to the new computer and is working fine.

Be sure the QuickBooks Server is sharing the company file and avoid changing the network settings.
Your connection to the QuickBooks Server may have been dropped due to a weak signal. Move to an area with a strong wifi signal or consider using an ethernet connection. Note : The QuickBooks Server app should only be installed and running on a host computer. Make sure the company file is on the same computer the QuickBooks Server app is installed on. Go to File , then select Enable Multiuser Mode. Multiuser mode tips You can switch back to single user mode. You should see a checkmark next to it. Select Enable Multiuser Mode again to switch to single user mode.
The checkmark should disappear. All workstations must be on the same network to access the company file. When this happens, you get a message that says another user is trying to do the same thing at the same time. Wait and try again later. You can set up each workstation for Merchant Account Services. While in multiuser mode, the admin user can turn on multiuser admin mode. This disconnects all other users from the company file, and lets the admin update Preferences.
To turn it off: Select Disable Multiuser Mode , or sign out. Step 1: Create user accounts in QuickBooks Every QuickBooks user must have a username and password to sign in to the company file. Select the Multiuser folder. Drag the QuickBooks Server icon to your Applications folder.
